Just as Jesus tore down the veil that separated God and man so also the wall that separates heaven and earth will be demolished as well. Much of the distress of many people over the way their lives have turned out comes from a failure to realize that their life actually lies before them. The fact that they are coming to the end of their present life pales in comparison to what lies ahead. Therefore what matters is not so much a matter of what we’ve done… but of who we have become. We are creating our capacity to live a wildly unimaginable life in eternity by who we are becoming today. This is the fundamental structure of our hope… the hope we have in Christ and the Father’s plan to finish what He started in the garden. Their lives were marked by adherence to a religious system that was about to be shaken to its core. They were two men who were waiting for the kingdom of God and found themselves right in the middle of the turning point of all of history…the kingdom of God had indeed arrived!
