RUSH
(Reaching oUt & Serving = Hope) is a ministry designed to do just that. We are committed to providing the following resources & support to the public schools we adopt.
Raising funds and recruiting volunteers for projects such as:
- School Supplies for Classrooms
- Field trips
- Campus projects (landscaping, murals, clean up, etc.)
- Encouraging & supporting faculty & staff
- Backpack, school supplies & shoe drives for students
- Tutoring
- Providing services requested by parent-teacher groups and administrators
We have people who are appointed to act as representatives for each school we adopt. These people are volunteers; they are people who are already invested in a particular school because they have children or grandchildren who attend it. We find value in having a contact person at each school site because they will have an established relationship with the staff and trust will have already been built.
Teachers have the enormous responsibility to educate students with minimal support from home and limited financial resources. We realize that it takes both parents working full time in our current economy to keep up with the rising cost of sustaining a family. This has made it difficult for parents to be involved in parent-teacher groups like they have in the past. However, our students and teachers need more help now then they have ever needed. Extracurricular activities have been cut and teachers have been asked to take on larger classes with fewer resources. Our hope is to partner with existing parent/teacher groups and school administration to meet the needs of educators.
Students spend an average of 6 hours a day at school. Teachers have a huge influence in shaping their lives. It is our hope that as we reach out and offer support to our teachers, it will have a positive effect on our students, and our community.
