Tips for joining a Life Group

• Groups are listed in order of the weekday on which they meet, starting with Sunday
• If you don’t know which one to join, feel free to call the group leader for more info
• For a map and directions to the meeting location, just click the address
• If joining as a couple, be sure there are at least two open seats in the group and sign up one at a time (you can use the same contact information)

   Focus: Our group is mostly comprised of young families, but all are welcome! Our group also tries to do a service project for one meeting per Life Group cycle. “We try to create an environment where we live out Philippians 2—’Do nothing out of vain ambition or selfish conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourself. Each of you should look not unto your own interest but to the interest of others.’” A meal is provided. We chip in and take turns providing the meal to serve each other. Child care is provided on-site at a cost of $3 per child per night.

During these times, the group picks a book of the Bible or other study to do together. “Learning what the Word says and putting our beliefs into action, then sharing the results with each other. We welcome all—married, single, new Christians, non-Christians and seasoned saints!” Drinks are served, group members sometimes bring refreshments to share. No childcare is offered.

Life doesn’t always work well, whatever stage you are in. So the question we want to address is, ‘How do we let the Holy Spirit and each other help us along our journey?’ This happens best in a place of honesty of trust. We work at creating that environment.” Snacks are haphazard; Steve and Jan usually provide something. No official childcare, but one couple brings their infant.

Childcare could be arranged if needed.

    Focus: A Christian 12-Step Program to Lose Weight and Keep it Off. Begin the exciting adventure to permanent weight loss by taking Steps 1 and 2. You will start the first lesson by taking turns listing ways that overeating has harmed you. How relieved you will be to finally find a group of people who understand where you’re coming from! It’s fun to talk about experiences that you have in common with your “ex-best friend” FOOD. Though it’s no fun to look at the harm that overeating has done, you’ll feel good because you’re starting on your journey in recovery with supportive new friends who are coming along with you.

    Focus: Sermon-based discussion. We strive to grow together and serve together. We do a snack, with everyone signing up for a night. Mike and I host at least one meal at our house. We try to make our group an easy entrance point for people who are new to “group life.” So, we would like to make room for these couples/singles even if we end up over our limit, what ever that is. We laugh a lot! And we love transparency! Also, we like to do at least one service project, because we think community takes place in this environment, so folks who join our group should be ready to roll up their sleeves. Childcare is provided free at the church.
