Vision

Imagine the possibilities:

Adopting and partnering with other communities and Churches in the world. Finding a place where we can make an impact for Christ. A place where teams from Oro Naz can invest their lives, and not just see the community of Oroville being changed “one life at a time”, but also a community half way around the world. The possibilities are endless!

Responding to global crisis and being Christ’s witnesses to the ends of the earth. Hurricanes, tornados, earth quakes, fires, flooding, and so many other natural disasters will need our hands. Not to mention the man made kind of crisis, like the slave trade industry, and a scores of other atrocities not yet imagined. We need to raise the awareness and find ways to minister in the midst of it.

In a little house on Bird Street, a movement of people pursing God started meeting in 1936. It could have ended there, but it didn’t. God was already at work in a bunch of risk takers who never settled for anything less than obedience and the pursuit of God

From that little house to the Rock House, to the Church on Washington Avenue, to our current location on Monte Vista, we continue to see God at work, changing our community “one life at a time”.

Our current building is used every day in many ways. From Church meetings, Serenity, and countless other ways we reach out from this location to a hurting world. The facilities are used for “Fall Festival”, “Upward Basketball”, and as a Red Cross shelter. It is used as an emergency evacuation facility for the High School, and for countless other community needs. We need to discover ways to do more! We must discover ways to better utilize, expand and develop our current campus to better meet the growing needs of our fellowship and our community.

The cycle of addictions, homelessness, the motherless and fatherless homes, abuse and abandonment are just a few of the challenges our community faces. Meeting needs and restoring hope to the hopeless through Jesus can be a daunting task. The solution? Find out what God is already doing in our community to meet those needs and jump on board! Partnering with other Christian Ministries and churches in our city will enable us to more effectively meet those needs. The establishment of “The Big Tent Coalition” has enabled us to begin to come alongside of some of these front-line Christian Ministries such as; The Hope Center, Axiom, Crisis Pregnancy Center Jordan Crossing ministries and others.

Through the Big Tent Coalition we will be able to build a network of churches and people who will be able to “serve those who serve” by writing grants, serving on boards, and assisting in the development of ministry infrastructure as needed.

In addition to this compelling idea Pastor D is very concerned about the 1600 pastors that are leaving the ministry every month. We are draining the pool of pastoral leadership and must do something about it. We can be a part of an initiative to develop Next Generation Leadership right here on our campus, through education and hands on practical experiences. The future of church leadership depends on it! These pastors-training will make a difference in our own community and in places around the world.

What we have embarked on can only be described by one word… ADVENTURE. You see, when we hook our lives to God and go where He goes, and we do what He does, and see what He sees then we open our lives up to “The Adventure.”

This is what another generation of believers embarked on 25 years ago that has resulted in the building we now worship and celebrate in. Many of those are still a strong and vital part of our fellowship here… giving and loving and serving the kingdom. We give honor to them and to those who have gone on to be with the Lord.

I cannot begin to imagine what a deficit to the city it would have been had they not dreamed that dream. It is time once again to dream, to believe the Father, once again, for a vision that is bigger than ourselves. You will not get every question answered for sure, but rest assured we will figure it out together.

God has been birthing this dream in us for a couple of years. He has been setting the stage, getting us ready, refining the vision…and now it is time. Our time… our time to make a difference in our city and the in the world.

We are calling this vision the C-3 Initiative; Campus, Community and Compassion. It will require us all to quit just going to church and continue to be the church.

It comes in two Phases. Phase I will be the initial stewardship emphasis to raise the needed capital to begin the initiative. Phase II will begin next year and will be the major portion of the stewardship initiative.

It will require all of us pulling in the same direction, making equal sacrifices of our resources and committing to staying in community with each other, praying for each other and for the leadership of the church.

Please understand that this vision was not received in a vacuum, or in a room somewhere with only a couple of people. It has been properly prayed over and through, ‘vetted’ on a leadership level and handled responsibly.

I can assure you that we are committed to hearing from you and leading the way with open hearts and hands.
Here’s what I’m asking you to do…
Pray and ask God what your role in this should be.
Even if you missed the initial roll out of C3, read, listen, pray and
Make a commitment to be a part of changing our city and our world… ”one life at a time!”
God bless you,

pastor d

C-3 is the way we here at Oro Naz plan to move forward in our efforts to minister to the hurting and the lost in our world…Here, Near, and Far! We have a rich heritage of making a difference in our community and around the world, but we should not rest on past accomplishments. There is still much work to do!

The church is a movement of people, restoring broken people in a broken world. We must continue to be the church! We’ve determined to do this through three vital components;

Campus (our current campus needs) Here

Community (making a difference in our city) Near

Compassion (our response to global needs) Far
